Died 11 January 2025, aged 45

About 8.55 am, when off duty in her own car she stopped on the A19 near Thirsk to help other motorists involved in a traffic collision, and in effect, acting in the execution of her duty as a police officer. While she was standing on the verge by the road assisting a man and teenage boy from one car, a heavy goods vehicle collided with them, killing the officer and the man and seriously injuring the boy.

The HGV driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Rosie had joined the force in May 2022 and was a response officer based at York.

She was survived by her husband, sons and family.

While he was working on night duty as a Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Local Policing Constable he suddenly collapsed and died.

Ian joined Gloucestershire Constabulary as a Special Constable in March 2006 and served with them for 13 years. He subsequently worked with Thames Valley Police and Ministry of Defence Police, returning to Gloucestershire in 2022.

He is survived by family.
