S/Con William Graham Died 3 April 1921 Fatally shot by mistake joining a patrol who failed to recognise him. S/Con John Fluke Died 10 April 1921 Killed by a bomb in an IRA ambush investigating suspicious activity. S/Con John Russell Died 9 May 1921, aged 48 Fatally injured in a fall off a wall on guard duty at a military barracks. S/Con Robert Coulter S/Con James Hall Died 29 May 1921 Fatally shot when their patrol was ambushed at night by 40 IRA men. S/Con Robert Armstrong Died 1 June 1921 Shot dead by the accidental discharge of a colleague's gun. S/Con George Lyness Died 8 June 1921, aged 25 Shot dead while guarding a house during a gun battle with the IRA. S/Con David Torrens Died 9 June 1921 Killed by the accidental discharge of a rifle at the barracks after patrol. S/Con Thomas Sturdy Died 12 June 1921 Fatally shot by a sniper while on patrol to quell sporadic gunfire. S/Con William Lyttle Died 2 December 1921, aged 27 Killed with an RIC Constable during an attempted IRA prison breakout. S/Con Charles McFadden Died 10 February 1922 Shot dead in an ambush while investigating suspicious activity. S/Con Thomas Greenfield Died 15 August 1922 Accidentally struck and killed by a train while patrolling the line. S/Con Samuel Holmes Died 20 October 1922 Accidentally shot himself while handling his revolver in barracks. S/Con John Alexander White Died 16 November 1922 Fatally injured in a road accident when his police vehicle overturned. S/Con Joseph Irwin Died 20 November 1922, aged 26 Collapsed and died of heart failure while at the door of his barracks. S/Con William Finley Died 4 July 1923 Fatally shot when a revolver fell to the barracks floor and discharged. S/Con Joseph Cooke Died 17 January 1924 Drowned when he accidentally fell into a lock going on sentry duty. S/Con William Campbell Died 21 June 1924 Died of wounds received on 31 May 1922 when shot by IRA gunmen. S/Con Samuel Steele Neill Died 26 April 1925 Killed when he lost control of his motorcycle while on enquiries. S/Sgt Hugh Lindsay McCracken Died 4 April 1940 Collapsed and died on the rifle range whilst on a firearms course. S/Con William Maurice Howe, 21 S/Con John McCombe Died 16 April 1941 Killed during an enemy air raid on Belfast off duty or duty status unknown. S/Con James Thompson Died 5 May 1941, aged 36 Killed in an enemy air raid on Belfast. S/Con John Stevenson Died 6 December 1941 Accidentally shot while off duty at home cleaning his police revolver. S/Con Arthur Kenwell Died 10 March 1942 Accidentally shot by his sergeant demonstrating an armed search. S/Con Samuel Hamilton Died 6 September 1942 Fatally shot when their patrol was ambushed at night by IRA gunmen. S/Con James Lyons Died 10 October 1942 Killed in a gun battle with two men after a bomb blast at his station. Sgt Instr. Joseph Millar Died 20 August 1947, aged 44 Accidentally shot dead supervising shooting practice on a rifle range. S/Con William Edward Nixon Died 28 July 1952 Accidentally shot himself while cleaning his rifle at home. ASO Robert Matthew Boyce MBE MC Died 15 April 1953 Died after taking ill at the USC HQ where he was Assistant Staff Officer. S/Con Robert Henderson Died 8 April 1957 Accidentally shot in the head with a revolver at Trillick RUC station. S/Con Clifford Benjamin Bassett Died 13 January 1961 Collapsed and died while on foot patrol in the early hours. S/Con David Johnstone Died 27 April 1961, aged 29 Shot by mistake in a misunderstanding by officers guarding a bridge. S/Con Samuel Henry Irwin Died 15 May 1964, aged 42 Collapsed and died while on a foot beat patrol in Belfast City. S/Sgt Andrew McFeeters Died 5 September 1964, aged 34 Collapsed and died on duty during a USC shooting competition. S/Con John Charles Greene Died 17 November 1964 Killed on duty when he was struck by a car, which failed to stop. S/Con (Rtd) William James Heenan Died 3 May 1985, aged 52 A former USC officer, shot dead by terrorist gunmen outside his home. S/Cmdt (Rtd) Samuel V.
